I told you before that the aunt bequeathed to us an old house which needs to repair our own work .. Unfortunately there is no time to spend money ....I show you the door ...... many painting ... my husband insists that the only wasted money can only be done to change the door ....
I disagree because I like the old worn by time.
I need help .... to support my opinion or to have another alternative ...
what do you think ?
This image is for my blog friend Rosemaryhttp://wherefivevalleysmeet.blogspot.co.uk who help us any time with these activities .

ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήDear Olympia - I love the paint work as it is. That is the look so many people are trying to achieve.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήIncidentally you have given me a website for Greece!!! - mine is .co.uk.
You have done very well with the oval but what you need to do next time is press transparent in order to get rid of the white corners - give it a try♥ Then when you have mastered that take it to the next stage and make them round. Well done.
Olympia, this is actually not shabby chic, which is just a pleasant, cheap imitation of country style furniture, according to magazines. This door looks like it's over 100 years old, which makes it a real antique! Please don't listen to your husband. The door just needs looking after and repainting. That's all. It's gorgeous just as it is... don't chance it and don't class it as "shabby chic" as, to me, shabby chic is really just "shabby." Antique is a different category. It is "IT."
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήPlease restore the wonderful door and keep it. I think you are very lucky!

Olympia, that door is a treasure and a real antique. It would take some work, but you could strip all the old paint off and restore it to the natural wood, then stain it to protect it. It would be beautiful. It wouldn't cost much to do it yourself, just a lot of time, but so worth it when you are done. Love the door!
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThese doors are very beautiful Olympia. I think they would look nice with a fresh coat of paint, but change nothing else.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThe door is lovely, Olivia. Maybe you just need to sand off all the loose bits and then give it a good waxing to preserve all that vintage charm. :) Have a beautiful day. Tammy
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήHello Olivia- Thank-you for coming by my blog and leaving your kind comment.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήI appreciate old things very much, but sometimes I think in order to be able to enjoy them for a lot longer it's wise to give them a clean up and freshening. Perhaps if you really want the old chippy look you can gently sand it a bit and give it a treatment to preserve it as Tammy has said.
You are correct, Olympia! It needs just a renovation to the point that it doesn't get rotten! It's a wonderful door and typical shabby chic! I think many people would pay for it just the way it is now! No or nearly no renovation required! You are absolutely correct! Christa
